Learn more about fair use and why you should care.
There are a number of very good organizations with resources that can help you understand Fair Use Rights. They are all better then anything I can do so I won’t try to reproduce their efforts.
http://fairuse.stanford.edu has a large but well organized “Copyright and Fair Use Overview section”
The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a good place to learn about everything from copyright issues to unconstitutional wire tapping.
We as consumers have certain rights that we should be able to expect. There is a great page at Digitalconsumer.org called Bill of Rights.
Chillingeffects.org is a joint project of the Electronic Frontier Foundation and a number of schools and universities. There is a wealth of information with sections covering copyright and DMCA, Fan Fiction, Protest, Parody and Criticism, and lots more.
Copyright.gov has this page on fair use and a link to section 107 of the copyright law. This is the “Copyright Law of the United States of America
and Related Laws Contained in Title 17 of the United States Code”.
