Free downloads 1, no law suits February 16, 2006

I’m sure this service is way underused. On CreativeCommons.org there is a very large, very simple button that allows you to “search for Creative Commons audio, images, text, video, and other formats that are free to share on line.” It’s big and square and it has the word “Find” on it. you can’t miss it.

I tested this service by doing a search for “track 1″ and got 4,760,000 hits. Wow. All that free music and no one will sue you for downloading it. I repeated the search but this time I included the quotes. This time i got 16,900 hits. That sounds a little more reasonable. Most people give their songs a name.

There are a lot of artists out there that want you to download their stuff and they wont drag you into any court of law for doing so.
